Building on your mediation service
You’ve set up your internal mediation service and now you want to get more value from it – or simply refresh and relaunch.
Hundreds of organisations have chosen CMP Resolutions as their partner for really embedding mediation into the organisation; the initial training is just the first step!
Why workplace mediation services slip into decline
There are usally two reasons:
- a loss of mediation capability; or
- a low a service profile.
Reviving your in-house mediation service need not be expensive or time consuming, and the human and financial benefits will be significant. Whether it’s widening the scope of what your mediators can work on, or repositioning your service and rolling out a communication plan, there are many steps you can take to get more from mediation.
If you want an inhouse mediation service that releases all the potential benefits of early dispute resolution, you need to maintain, promote and manage your service.
And to do this means you need to evidence the business case of your service, to ensure future funding. But do you know how well your mediation service is performing?
If you stop thinking ‘mediation’ after the inital training, there’s a real risk that all you have are trained mediators, and not a real, vibrant and effective mediation service.
We can help you get more from the investment you’ve already made in mediation, no matter who did you initial training.
The CMP workplace mediation training was vital. Their Interactive Mediation model gives a clear easy process to follow, that allows you the space and the confidence to use your developed skills to manage the issues in the mediation. The training has been great in that it provided a framework for a more structured approach.
Working with such an experienced and professional organisation has been incredibly refreshing and our in-house mediation service has been enhanced as a result. The course was fantastic and people left feeling confident with the skills. The course content was comprehensive and the training techniques first class. The trainer worked with us to discuss service development and implementation. They provided a lot of supporting information which has helped immensely in getting this project off the ground.
A highly interactive and participative course; just what we wanted. The trainer was very experienced, using personal anecdotes to make scenarios ‘come alive’.
The best and most interesting course I’ve been on. Good learning pack to support in-depth, challenging, highly participative group sessions. Demanding, satisfying, thought-provoking, intense and fun. It has changed the way I think about certain things and therefore will have a long lasting impact.
CMP is an organisation at the top of their game and this was evidenced by the calibre of the trainers assigned to my project. Seldom do Training & Development Managers receive outstanding feedback from 100% of delegates who reported being fully engaged across six days of training. The CMP trainers, through their delivery style, personalities and course content and structure, did exactly this.

Excellent quality course which appropriately addressed the needs and requirements of the learners. All the staff trained stated that it was one of the best courses they had ever attended, and they hope that they can undertake further training with this organisation in the future.
We worked closely with CMP to ensure that the homelessness mediation training course was tailored to the specific needs of the organisations and we certainly got what we purchased. The training was superb and fully met the needs of each organisation and their specific delegates.
My test of a good training provider lies not with it’s “off the shelf” courses, but in how it applies its skills to the context of the customer. The tailored mediation training provided by CMP not only met my benchmark test, but exceeded it by some margin.
From commissioning to organising the training, then the delivery and follow up CMP have been exceptional as they are interested not only in the quality of what they deliver but in the quality of what we as a customer can then do.
I had half thought ‘how can it need six days to learn to mediate’, and then after the course I thought, ‘I need another six days!’ It was a lot more of a roller coaster than you might think, with more self-learning, building awareness of how you react to others in different situations. It was very useful to us and a powerful experience. The delegates are all very intellectually capable, and the training includes theory, practice and reflection – a nice mixture that covers the way different people prefer to learn.
We share data and best practice ideas for how best to access mediation for your business. Ideal for those with an existing mediation service which they would like to see achieve better results.
This paper draws on research we carried out across the UK to find out what it really is that makes a successful in house mediation service.
