Mersey Care NHS Mental Health Trust  embedded a successful internal mediation service with CMP’s accredited mediation training in 2009. Further delivery of core skills training for managers in mediation and conflict management skills has seen a reduction in formal complaints and increase in the confidence of managers to prevent and manage conflict.

Since 2009, Sue Ryder Care has invested in core mediation, conflict management and investigation skills training to implement dispute resolution skills throughout staff and management levels. The approach supported the charity’s principles of rewarding and developing staff. They have seen an increase in the wellbeing of their employees and ability to prevent and manage conflict at source. Where investigations have been required to close a conflict, SRC’s trained and qualified investigating officers conduct cases in a shorter timescale yet more robust and thorough to minimise risk of appeal or ET claim.

An increasing workload on the HR department required Bayer to outsource their mediation service requirements to CMP. The contract involves CMP delivering a strong, quick and focused outcome. Employees have been introduced to the new service through a series of tailored webinars hosted by CMP which have been well received. Mediation has enabled Bayer staff to communicate through their issues to build trust and understanding with long-term resolution.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has used CMP as it’s partner organisation since 2007 to deliver short mediation and conflict management skills training to it’s managers. In 2010 the FCO established the first international holistic Dispute Resolution Caseworker service with innovative training from CMP. This provided a one-stop-shop service to support any member of staff involved in a workplace dispute. Training includes accredited mediator, investigator and contact officer skills development. The service has helped to reduce escalation of conflict, and to manage and close cases quickly and effectively. Download a PDF case study and read testimonials from the FCO.

The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) developed a detailed approach to Equality and Diversity. To support the final stage of implementing their Diversity Strategy, CMP trained a group of Diversity Champions (Grievance Resolvers). Broader training programmes have since been delivered to support BACP in improving their Conflict Profile™. This has included Conflict Management training for managers and investigation skills training for the SMT.
