Cutting the cost of conflict at work at ThinkFM 2011 Conference

The ThinkFM 2011 conference, took place on the 5-6th April at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham. On behalf of the ILM, John Crawley, CMP Founder and Chair, spoke on day two of the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) conference with the seminar Cutting the Cost of Conflict at Work.

John set participants challenges to respond to in small groups – how to handle an angry or upset colleague, how to challenge inappropriate behaviour and how to maintain rapport under pressure.

By the end of the session, delegates learned:

  • How to feel more confident about managing conflict at work
  • How to use mediation skills to build rapport, defuse frustration and problem solve
  • How to take a more co-ordinated, consistent and effective approach to conflict at work
  • How to improve conflict management and dispute resolution processes, practice and policy
