Mediation Rocks

One of our practitioners tells me that rock band Bon Jovi was recently quoted on GMTV’s early morning news programme as having used ‘mediation’. She assured me that her interest in this was professional and nothing to do with how ‘immensely tasty’ Jon Bon Jovi was. I couldn’t find trace of the interview on the web but I did find the band doing their latest single (http://www.gm.tv/videos/live-performances/41016-bon-jovi-rock-band.html) . A typical rock anthem I would say but he introduced it as a song about ‘giving people a voice’ which picks up on the theme of my last blog (Finding Different Voices). Here is a sample of the lyrics:

This one’s about anyone who does it differently

This one’s about the one who cusses and spits

This ain’t about our living in a fantasy

This ain’t about giving up or giving in

Yeah, yeah, yeah

We weren’t born to follow

Come on and get up off your knees

When life is a bitter pill to swallow

You gotta hold on to what you believe.

What songs come into your mind when you think of mediation and dispute resolution? ‘War, what is it good for? – Edwin Starr’; ‘Respect’ Aretha Franklin; ‘Pick up the pieces’ Average White Band; ‘Everyone’s a winner’ Hot Chocolate.
