Non-workplace mediation training and services

Mediation doesn’t just take place in the workplace.

We have been involved in setting up mediation services and training mediators to endorsed standards who will be using their mediation skills in:

  • Homelessness – getting young people back into a relationship with their families, with reduced behavioural risks
  • Community and neighbour disputes –for social landlords
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)  – bringing parents, teachers and schools together
  • Disability – where disability issues are present in the workplace, in education, and in service delivery
  • Health conciliation – training Patient Advice and Liaison Services to include mediation

We organised mediation training on behalf of two smaller organisations who work to support families, young people and children affected by substance misuse. We worked closely with CMP to ensure that the course was tailored to the specific needs of the organisations and we certainly got what we purchased. The training was superb and fully met the needs of each organisation and their specific delegates.

The mediation training provided by CMP was excellent in both context and format, and both challenging and enjoyable to all those staff who participated. It has certainly opened our eyes to the potential that mediation provides in resolving neighbour disputes and conflict management in other areas of housing work.

CMP were very flexible in meeting our specific needs. The trainer was very professional and all our mediators found the course challenging and thought provoking.

We have now had almost 40 members of staff receive training from CMP. They are the most effective, efficient and professional trainers I have had the privilege to work with.

If you are looking for a training course with accreditation and real quality assurance, our Passport to Mediate programme is ideal.

This programme is endorsed by the ILM and covers all types of mediation other than Family and Civil mediation.  We can deliver this to inhouse teams, and it is available as a open course.

We will tailor the training to your context; typically this might be:

  • Homelessness issues – strengthen your ability to respond to difficult situations with young people and their families and reduce behavioural risk around interpersonal differences
  • Community and neighbour disputes – restore peaceful communities, reduce anti-social behaviour and improve community cohesion
  • Disability – using mediation to resolve disputes about disability in the workplace, in education, and in service delivery
  • Victim-offender – this ‘restorative justice’ approach brings the victims of crime together with the offender
  • SEN mediation – bring parents, teachers and schools together to focus on the needs of the child
  • Health conciliation – to resolve disputes from patients about their health care provider
