Essential mediation skills to enable early resolution

The first stage of any procedure is that employees to ‘raise the matter directly’ with whomever they are in contention with. However it is human nature to avoid these potentially difficult conversations, and to expect someone else to sort it out for us. So your best option to minimise the amount and severity of disputes at work is to provide training to develop the interpersonal skills and abilities of your staff and managers. This way they will be more confident in raising difficult issues directly, and will be better equipped to use that dialogue to build understanding and agreement and resolve the matter directly and quickly.
