This generic mediation course is ideal for mediators undertaking homelessness, community, SEN, and Health mediations, as well as for workplace mediations.

More than 4000 mediators have successfully completed this course, which is the essential first step to becoming a successful mediator. The Certificate in Mediation Skills is a nationally recognised qualification in mediation currently accredited by Oxford, Cambridge and RSA Examinations (OCR) and which exceeds the standards set by the CMC. Our trainer-delegate ratio is kept to a maximum of 1 to 9, to allow for individual coaching and feedback.

The trainer for this programme is one of the UK’s most experienced mediators and mediation trainers, Lesley Allport, our Head of Mediation. Lesley has 15 years’ of experience in family, workplace, SEN and health mediation and has a Masters degree in Supervision in Mediation.

You will learn Interactive Mediation©, a facilitative approach which was created by the founders of CMP and is now recognised as the industry standard. This model emphasises rebuilding relationships, as well as achieving practical and robust outcomes. Our training will teach you how to: structure mediation meetings; move even the most entrenched parties; manage anger and distress; work with allegations of discrimination and harassment.

This six-day course is split into two sets of three days, and attendance on all six days is essential if you are to qualify for the OCR certificate. To view our assessment procedure please see here. We run our courses in Birmingham and London, please click on the links for venue information.
