Qualified Workplace Investigator

For too long, investigators into bullying and harassment and disciplinary allegations have not had access to an endorsed and nationally recognised qualification specifically tailored to workplace investigation. We are therefore delighted to be making available the first such course in the UK: the Qualified Workplace Investigator programme. This four-day course is endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and is ideal for managers or consultants who want to undertake investigations that meet best practice standards. If you want the confidence, clarity and competence to carry out complex and sensitive investigations, then this course is for you.

The intensive and challenging programme will teach you how to conduct fair, robust and rigorous investigations into formal grievances and disciplinary matters; and will enable you to prepare reports which are fit for purpose and which will stand scrutiny by deciding officers, Appeals boards, and ETs.

Endorsement is provided through the ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) which is part of the City and Guilds Group.

You will be taught by the UK’s experts in investigation practice and workplace conflict management: Tim Kingsbury, CMP Head of Investigation Services; and John Crawley, CMP Founder and Chair.

The Qualified Workplace Investigator programme is a blended learning course, made up of:

  • E-learning prior to the classroom learning, which covers current employment law, preparing an investigation, and investigator knowledge and values.
  • 3 days classroom learning covering planning an investigation, conducting interviews, collecting evidence, note-taking and Records of Interview, facilitation skills, diversity and equality issues, evidence analysis, and report-writing.
  • Post-course e-learning activity which involves assessment of a written report.

Completing the full four days is required in order to receive the accredited ILM certificate. This is a genuine and robust qualification and therefore gaining the certificate cannot be guaranteed as this depends on your ability to meet the learning outcomes.

The classroom sessions take place at our new training facility, the CMP Resolutions Centre in Royston, Herts
