Serious incidents and “never events” can change the whole landscape for an employer. They can generate intense media scrutiny, and public and government interest.
And even the best of organisations will experience a serious incident from time to time.
Our ILM programme has been developed to meet the requirements, role and responsibilities of investigators as outlined in the revised NHS England Serious Incident Framework (March 2015), which itself builds on guidance that introduced a systematic process for responding to serious incidents in NHS-funded care. It is also ideal for those investigating serious incidents in social care settings and can be tailored to the needs of high risk organisations, such as Defence and Pharmaceutical.
We will train your investigators to understand the changes within the regulatory landscape and to take a whole-system approach to both less serious, and more critical, incidents.
It’s essential for such investigators to know how to work in partnership with other statutory bodies, to be skilled and confident in carrying out a thorough investigation, and crucially, to be able to identify the key learnings and make recommendations that are implemented by the organisation.
Our course balances people-management and interview skills; process skills; knowledge of the relevant applicable legislation; stakeholders management; and report-writing skills. It will produce a cadre of people who are able to investigate with confidence and skill and who can pursue their duties responsibly, capably and pro-actively.
A collaborative environment, lots of ideas for the right language to use and situations that might crop up. Real-life focus!! Thank you for a very useful day!!
The trainer was very clear and professional. Having conducted many investigations, this is the first time I have received investigation training. Long overdue!
CMP provided a great facilitator: very articulate and patient, who created opportunities for discussion on issues that I was unsure of.
The investigation training was interesting and showed a different side of the investigation process, Tim has an informal style and is very knowledgeable.
What I thought was going to be ‘death by PowerPoint’ turned out to be exceptionally engaging, worthwhile and relevant to the issues I’m currently facing.
Very good trainer who ran the investigation training well with good ‘real life’ examples to support the theory. The process and policy was very useful. I really enjoyed the course.
Very engaging, easy to learn when each member on the course is involved and taking part. The trainer for the investigation training was very friendly and professional.
Clear, relevant, mixture of activity types – the trainer created a safe place to learn.
I like the respectful way the training was undertaken, listened etc. The trainer made it interesting, whilst being well-considered and thoughtful.
CMP developed a serious incident investigation programme that was just right for the needs of the group. We would recommend CMP to any organisation wanting to develop the skills and professionalism of their investigators. Our training was been a very positive experience, and we are confident it has helped us to speed up and professionalise our approach to investigating serious incidents. Not only have our investigators gained in confidence and skills, but our investigations are already moving more quickly and our processes have been streamlined following input from the trainers.
Your managers are taking on a potentially high-risk task when they investigate a serious incident. Our training is rigorous, and comes with a full pack of materials to manage investigations back at work, as well as 12 months’ support from our team of investigators.
We can tailor this programme to meet your specific organisational and sector needs.
