Our ILM programme has been developed to meet the requirements, role and responsibilities of investigators as outlined in the revised NHS England Serious Incident Framework (March 2015), which itself builds on guidance that introduced a systematic process for responding to serious incidents in NHS-funded care. It is also ideal for those investigating serious incidents in social care settings and can be tailored to the needs of high risk organisations, such as Defence and Pharmaceutical.
We will train your investigators to understand the changes within the regulatory landscape and to take a whole-system approach to both less serious, and more critical, incidents.
It’s essential for such investigators to know how to work in partnership with other statutory bodies, to be skilled and confident in carrying out a thorough investigation, and crucially, to be able to identify the key learnings and make recommendations that are implemented by the organisation.
Our course balances people-management and interview skills; process skills; knowledge of the relevant applicable legislation; stakeholders management; and report-writing skills. It will produce a cadre of people who are able to investigate with confidence and skill and who can pursue their duties responsibly, capably and pro-actively.
